WHAT ARE DEMOTIVATORS?

Demotivators originated in the United States as a comedic response to the motivational posters populating offices in the 1990s - so-called "motivational posters." A demotivational poster is an image within a thick, black frame with a comment. The comment provides a satirical, ironic, or comedic interpretation of the image. Demotivational posters appeal to people from all walks of life - students, children, adults - not just professionals. Thanks to the internet, everyone is now able to contribute their own demotivators for public enjoyment.

WHO IS THIS SITE FOR?

This site is a place where everyone can publish their own demotivators. The authors will be content in knowing that their ideas are widely visible, while visitors will enjoy a good laugh. This site provides a break from everyday life and covers 70% one's recommended daily entertainment allowance.

HOW DOES THE SITE WORK?

Our site allows easy creation and convenient browsing of demotivators. Newly added demotivators first go to the waiting room. All registered users can then rank and comment on demotivators. If the ranking is positive (or if the administrator likes them) they move up to the main page.

HOW DO I CREATE AND ADD A DEMOTIVATOR?

To start, select a picture to upload. The picture can be uploaded from your computer or linked to a photo on the internet. Files must be in .jpg or .jpeg format, no larger than 1 mb, and must respect the copyrights of the original owner as applicable. For web-linked photos, be sure to link directly to the picture and not the website from where it comes.

Your picture doesn't have to be especially comedic. The caption you include is what can turn a mundane photo into a piece of comic genius. Similarly, a poorly-chosen caption can ruin a great photograph. Be sure to pair your photo and caption to make the greatest effect!

You can only add one demotivator every five minutes!

WHICH DEMOTIVATORS ARE DELETED?

Any demotivator that contains distateful, repulsive, or pornographic content, or anything that is plagiarized from another source will be deleted. Similarly, any demotivators that contain insulting or personally attacking material will be removed.
